Legal – Melbourne, Victoria

Employment Type Full-Time

About the business:

Sargon provides financial institutions and entrepreneurs with the technology and infrastructure they need to successfully build and grow investment funds. Operating across Australia, New Zealand and Hong Kong, Sargon's powerful combination of modern technology, financial licences and industry experts navigate regulatory complexity, security and compliance so our clients can focus on what matters most: building a better future.

The Role:

We are looking for a lawyer to join our dynamic legal team. Reporting to the General Counsel and co-founder, you will be a trusted advisor to the business, providing varied, strategic advice, support and services to the Sargon business. You would be an integral part of our fast-paced, rapidly growing organisation, and be exposed to opportunities for growth and development on a daily basis.

You would be involved in:

  • Providing high quality legal support across our businesses in Australia, New Zealand and Hong Kong;
  • Supporting strategic growth initiatives for the business, including mergers and acquisitions, capital raising and the integration of new businesses into our group;
  • Drafting and negotiating of contracts and day to day advice on documents, products, legislation and disputes;
  • Interacting with and managing the business’ ongoing relationship with a number of regulators;
  • Monitoring regulatory change, legislative amendments and government policy and their affect on our business; and
  • Consulting with the technology team to build technology tools to manage and solve legal and regulatory processes and challenges.

About you:

  • A tertiary legal degree;
  • Admitted to practice as a lawyer in Australia, with a current practising certificate;
  • 1 to 4 years' post-qualification experience at a law firm or in-house (exposure in financial services or superannuation is great but certainly not essential);
  • Flexibility and willingness to work on a variety of matters, from complex to routine matters, and ability to handle a diverse range of issues simultaneously;
  • Strong attention to detail;
  • Effective communication skills; and
  • Friendly and helpful disposition with a positive attitude.

If this is of interest to you we want to hear from you!
